3RD-8TH GRADE PROGRAM

The 3rd-8th Program is designed to develop (or with newer players, begin to develop) the skill sets needed for competitive play. The curriculum is designed to take each individual boy to his next level, and the teams and program in general to the highest levels possible.  Each grade will play other town programs from Essex and Bergen counties, in the highest ("AAA") division of the Northern New Jersey Lacrosse League.  We may have “A” and “B” teams at each grade, and coaches have full discretion to decide on which team the players will play, and to vary rosters as they see fit according to skill level, attitude, and attendance.

Players must play in the same school grade. Playing "up" one or more school grades is prohibited. For example, if a player is a 6th grader on March 1, 2021, then that player will be a member of the 6th grade team. This is a NJJLL rule and sanctioned by U.S. Lacrosse, the national governing body of the sport of lacrosse in the U.S.

In general, the goal is a ratio of two or three practices to one game per week, and to have our travel games on weekends and practices during the week, and there will be exceptions to this general structure.

Usually, practices start the week of March 3rd and the Season ends May 30th.  For 3rd-7th grade weekday practices, the end of practice may be extended from 7:30 to 8:00 in the second half of the season when there is more daylight.  All practice locations will be confirmed two weeks before the start of the season. We may add optional scrimmage days to the schedule if/when fields and coaches are available.  We make every effort to keep times and locations consistent but occasionally there is a change based on weather, field conditions, or conflicts with other field users. Games will tend to be on Thursday and Friday evenings and on Sundays.  Final game schedules will be announced ahead of the season.

Cost: $350.  Financial aid is available for those who qualify.  Contact Jessica Freeman with any questions about registration: jessica@montclairlacrosse.com.  All players must be registered with US Lacrosse which is part of our registration process.
